How we determine the currency

The currency field shows the ISO 4217 code of the currency of the issuing country.
Method
We get the currency from the issuing country of the card. We do not get it from the card itself.
Old currency codes
If a country changed its currency, we return the current code. For example, we return EUR for Germany, not DEM.
Null values
The field is null when the issuing country is not known.
Important
The currency of the issuing country is not always the currency of the card account.
